Chalon dans la rue supports artists driven by a desire to “build together”—with the city and its residents.
Every year, participants from all walks of life are invited to immerse themselves in the Chalon dans la rue Festival by taking part in artists’ projects.
Whether you’re an amateur actor, dancer, audience member, or volunteer… the roles vary depending on the artistic project and its stage of development.
It’s all about sharing a unique collective and creative experience with artists and a group. Everyone is welcome!

The Art Project
VOYOUeS is: a tall person, a short person, and a unicorn riding in a sound-system car. They’re on the run—it’s the only way they can stay alive!
The VOYOUeS show aims to push boundaries and create opportunities for unexpected encounters. VOYOUeS inspires people to rise up through celebration, and anything is possible!
My role in the project
The final scene of the show is brought to life thanks to the participation of local musicians and amateur performers of all ages and skill levels, provided they have a portable instrument that can be played without amplification (brass, woodwind, percussion, etc.).
If you can play an instrument—even just a little—and preferably one that’s easy to carry and sounds good without amplification (brass, woodwind, percussion, accordion, etc.), no matter your age, we’d love for you to come meet us and help us put together a surprise!
We’d like to meet with you and anyone else interested in the project—please bring your instrument—on [day] at [time]. Please allow at least an hour for this meeting! We’d also love for you to attend the performance, of course!
Participant profile:
• 2 to 10 people who have their own unamplified musical instruments (accordion, violin, brass, woodwinds—not too many guitars) of all skill levels to share a moment of music and collective joy at the end of the show.
• Ages 10 and up; everyone is welcome.
Rehearsals:
Meet the company: One day before the workshop—a chance to get to know each other, learn the music, and try our hand at musical freestyle based on the melody: 1 hour.
The company will share the melody in advance.

The Art Project
NonGrata is a poetic call to celebrate our uniqueness. Live music, spoken word, and giant puppets take over the public space to tell the story of four marginalized figures of the modern age who are trying to find their place in an increasingly restrictive world.
My role in the project
An a cappella song initiated by one of the actresses, accompanied by puppets, with two other actresses joining in from the audience. The other performers gradually join in the singing to encourage the rest of the audience to join them. The song consists mainly of a “lalalala” melody with a few lyrics. The song takes place at the end of the show.
Participant profile:
• No singing experience required
• Ages 10 and up
• Preferably 10 people per performance. The singing workshop can accommodate up to 30 people.
Rehearsals:
D-2: Singing workshop/rehearsal with participants. Approximately 1.5 hours. If the weather is nice, preferably outdoors; otherwise, in a rehearsal space (such as a school or parish hall) suitable for the number of people.
D-1: Dress rehearsal on site.
D-0: If unable to attend the dress rehearsal, participants can arrive before the show for a briefing.
The company can provide the song (lyrics and recording) if necessary.
If you'd like to get involved in the festival in a different way, you can also sign up for other volunteer opportunities.
