A television set. A host and her two longtime sidekicks. A colorful show called “Bonjour Bonheur.” An atmosphere of exaggerated kindness and well-being. And then things go off the rails… The host snaps… A yoga teacher, a shaman, a fairy… come to visit her like happiness coaches. Real or imaginary characters—who knows? But that’s not counting the supervillains, those slightly malevolent heroines slumbering within us, ready to do battle with all the demands to do well, be well, and look good… With a quirky and biting production, the Mesdemoiselles Company challenges the demands that urge us to be happy at all costs and questions the very notion of happiness. It presents a whimsical scenario featuring balloon ballets, acrobatic lifts, tightrope and drop rope acts, wild choreography, and the art of clowning.
