Three somewhat lost individuals, “extras”—anonymous among the anonymous—emerge from the crowd. Unbeknownst to them, they are taking part in a full-scale social psychology experiment, serving in turn as guinea pigs, witnesses, or instigators. How can we collaborate despite our differences? What techniques can be used to manipulate a crowd? What is public opinion? What divides or unites us at our core? Taking advantage of the large number of people present, they attempt to bring forth collective intelligence, the “wisdom of the crowds”… or the dumbing down of the masses. Playing with preconceived notions, ulterior motives, and counterintuitive ideas, they explore the social animal that is the human being. An animal capable of going far… very far. Too far?
Three somewhat lost individuals, "extras," anonymous among the anonymous, emerge from a crowd. Unwittingly, they become part of a large-scale social psychology experiment, acting at times as subjects, witnesses, or instigators. How can we collaborate despite our differences? What techniques can manipulate a crowd? What exactly is "public opinion"? What divides us and what deeply unites us? Taking advantage of the presence of a large audience, the performers explore collective intelligence, the “wisdom of crowds,” or the dulling of the masses. Through interactive experiments with the audience, anecdotes, individual destinies, and the great stories of humankind, the show explores this social animal that is the human being. An animal that can go far, very far… too far?
