A performance blending theater, storytelling, props, and music, this production follows the quiet life of Marie-Jeanne and the regulars at La Consolatrice café, which is turned upside down by the arrival of the Marshal-President, a dictator who subverts democracy to seize power. Backed by major multinational corporations, he exploits mineral resources, destroys villages, and drives the inhabitants into exile. Through this story, the Compagnie Hardie denounces political abuses, the effects of globalization, and their human and social consequences. True to its style, the company blends storytelling, poetry, and satire in a free and inventive style, oscillating between humor, social criticism, and philosophical reflection. Behind its apparent simplicity, the show explores profound and existential questions.
