Freely adapted from Liv Strömquist’s graphic novel *The Origin of the World*, published by Rackham, *The Fruit of Knowledge* tells the story of a discovery with humor and irreverence. The story of the “vulva”—its history, its anatomy—but also the symbols, myths, and medical theories associated with it over the centuries, and its disastrous appropriation by men. From Antiquity to the Middle Ages, through the tumultuous 19th century, the actresses take us on a journey tracing the construction of our imagination of sex—historically and socially assigned to the female gender.
