“We’ll camp here”—that was the phrase the lead cowboy never failed to utter, solemnly and authoritatively, when he announced—arm raised—upon finally reaching the crest of a valley overlooking a lake—that it was time to take a break after a long, very long day of walking, wandering, or fleeing through landscapes far too vast for us. “We’ll camp here” is a sensitive phrase that suspends the flow of time to mark a pause. Alternating between stories and songs, like a breath, Sébastien Barrier recounts life and uses digressions to cast his unique gaze on the present moment. A unifying show that brings together moments that are funny, serious, and warm.
