This is the story of Gustave, a lost man who has watched the rivers run dry and the life of the prairies of his childhood fade away. A man who, too attached to the past, has embarked on a quest that is beyond him: the search for Léon, his butterfly friend who disappeared 20 years ago. A man who has let his madness get the better of him. A man who, no longer recognizing a world disfigured by an invisible poison that destroys all living things, has transformed himself into the architect of his own kingdom. Fleeing a system gone mad, he has decided to bring back what was taken from him with the little he has left. To create an absurd universe, filled with lepidoptera, myriapods, and mantids, in which he feels at ease. An enchanted and unsettling universe. A universe as ephemeral and fragile as newsprint. A universe where his memories and fantasies allow him, perhaps, to reclaim his freedom.
