She’s called Little One. And her sister is Big One. Big One has a secret. And Little One wants to know. She can’t help herself. Between them, the threads of a metamorphosis are woven. Inspired by a traditional tale from the North American Blackfoot tribe, Ursa Major delves into the heart of the forest to explore the ambivalent and complex bond that unites the sisters, the journey of self-discovery, love, and each person’s place in the world. The performance blends reality and fiction, storytelling and music, the creation myth of the Big Dipper, and intimate modern-day words. It is a tale from the dawn of time that transcends Manichaeism to open up a world inhabited by beauty and horror, love and cruelty. A world that intimately connects humanity and nature, life and death.
She is called "the Kid." And her sister is "The Big Girl." "The Big Girl" has a secret. And "the Kid" is irresistibly drawn to finding out what it is. A transformation is coming... Based on a traditional tale from the North American Blackfoot tribe, "Ursa Major" plunges us deep into the forest to explore the powerful and complex relationship between two sisters. It is also about love, desire, identity, and finding one’s place in this world. The play blends reality and fiction, storytelling and music, the creation myth of Ursa Major, and the private voices of today. This ancient tale reveals a world of beauty and horror, of love and violence—a world where humanity and nature are inextricably linked.
