We love disasters
April 25–May 7, 2023
Artistic genre: Musical and choreographic work for public spaces
Year created: 2023
A love for panic and a sense of drama
A love for a concert gone wrong
A love for a thick fog that obscures the horizon
A love for a frenzied crowd
A love for a glance exchanged and two bodies touching
A love for a wave that grows far too big, uncontrollable
A love for a siren wailing in a concrete jungle
A love, a breach, a fever
A love for a boisterous youth
A love for red or pink
A love for a happy ending
We love catastrophe,
A declaration of love for shared open spaces: a public square, a forecourt, an esplanade, as a starting point. A central place of passage, encounters, and revolt. A place of unity in response to a shared event that creates a breaking point. A before and an after. A festive, tragic, political turning point that becomes part of the collective memory of bodies. A crowd of muscles, edges, faces, and individuals who intertwine, dance, rise up, and freeze. Time stands still. Between tension, reaction, confrontation, and uprising, everyone, from their own vantage point, is involved.
