Public Transit Derailment Brigades

January 26–February 8, 2026

Artistic genre: theater for public transportation
Year the show was created: 2026

This project, written by Lucie Vérot Solaure and Louis Zampa, involves creating a series of short pieces for city buses, trams, subways, trains, and more. The project is aimed at public transit users, ranging from regular commuters to passing tourists.
For the duration of a single trip, everyone will be able to experience a moment of theater, of urban poetry: the dance of three maintenance workers, the secret thoughts of a driver, a subway car transformed into a luxury restaurant, the cautionary speech of two pickpockets, the lost and found committee’s tribute to a forgotten umbrella...

The objectives of the residency

The Xanadou theater company’s presence in Chalon takes shape in two phases:
- a week-long workshop with theater students from the conservatory on creating theater in public spaces
- a week-long residency focused on developing scenes for the show. Objectives: to experiment! To take risks, to fail, and sometimes to succeed. To test the scenes live on public transportation, with no safety net.
The residency concludes with a public performance of Bruit de la rue.
